Coming of Age, 2024.
artifacts, symbol, residue,
found glass, eternity.
Completed and installed in August of 2024.
Coming of Age presents an artifact, symbol, or residue for each year of the artist’s life to form a narrative installation spanning from before his birth to the present. Our story lies in how each object came to touch or was created by one human existence, expressing moments of humor, loss, and faith. Abstracted and distilled from their lived context, they are in turn suspended by a shared material culture and the hand of fate. Illuminated by these universal forces, they become touchstones for personal memory and collective meaning, offerings of eternity.
Installed at Skylab Gallery in Columbus, OH as part of the exhibition, Clouds are so beautiful that I can bite my toes… curated by Amari-Grey Johnson.
